This presentation will kick off by examining how hard COVID-19 has hit economies across the world in 2020. Drawing upon Oxford Economics’ (OE) extensive research, Scott will illustrate how such impacts can be measures using innovative data sources such as mobility. Scott will then utilise the data by examining themes such as how the stringency of lockdown has impacted economic performance.

The presentation will also discuss how the recovery from the pandemic will look like for the GCC and whether COVID-19 will have longer lasting events. To close, Scott will assess the range of scenarios that the latest research from OE shows may characterise the world economy’s recovery from COVID-19 and what that tells us about economic risks over the next couple of years.
